Italian air conditioning manufacturer Clivet has introduced a new generation of rooftop air conditioning units using R454C, according to Cooling Post. The range adopts the low-global-warming-potential A2L refrigerant as part of an effort to address environmental regulatory requirements and improve energy efficiency.
The launch brings two considerations into focus for rooftop equipment selection: refrigerant choice and energy performance. Clivet’s move indicates that its product development is addressing both, although the use of a lower-GWP refrigerant alone does not establish how efficiently a complete unit will operate.
For buyers and equipment specifiers, the practical question is how the new range performs under the conditions of a proposed installation. Any assessment of potential energy savings would need to consider published performance figures and a comparable operating basis. Improved efficiency remains a stated objective of the launch; it should not be read as a quantified reduction in electricity consumption or running costs.
Further product specifications would help clarify how Clivet has translated these objectives into equipment performance and application requirements. Those details would also allow prospective users to assess the range’s suitability for individual projects and the implications of its refrigerant choice for installation and servicing.
